The DOV/SOV Valve is a quarter-turn valve with double offset HEMI (ball) in a top entry cartridge design. The cartridge assembly contains all trim components and is removed from the body in one piece. The DOV valve (Double Offset Valve) extends the technology from the HCV and delivers a rotary valve with dual mechanical wedge seals when used with soft seats for ZERO LEAKAGE. The standard DOV is a trunnion mounted design that provides a Double Isolation and Bleed without the use of seat springs or line pressure to ensure a bubble tight seal.
The DOV has been designed to include “Double Isolation Bleed” (DIB) and “Double Block and Bleed” (DBB) functionality. The DOV maintains the UNIQUE top entry cartridge style for easier maintenance and fewer leak paths. The operation of a DOV is 1/4 turn that allows for more cost effective actuation and lower fugitive emissions.
The SOV (Single Offset Valve) is a variation of the DOV used when a metal seat is needed for higher temperatures or steam service. The metal seat is installed on the upstream side providing more protection from the flow and maintains its rotary mechanical sealing feature. This proprietary seat delivers a reliable tight shutoff in a trunnion mounted design unique to the Chromatic SOV.

Principles of Operation
Using the same wedge seal technology developed with the HCV, Chromatic extended that technique to a fully round DOV HEMI with two opposing mechanical offsets. The DOV is designed with Dual Mechanical Wedge Seals allowing the valve to exert equal force on each seat with no assistance from line pressure or seat springs. The DOV will seal in either direction and even if one seat does not function properly the other seat will block pressure. The HCVs mechanical seal is achieved by the increased offset (taper) of the HEMI wedging into the seat. At full closure a positive mechanical load is created between the HEMI and the seat. Unlike conventional ball valves, the HEMI core directs flow away from the seat ring, protecting the body and seat from excessive erosion. The cartridge design, in which all internal sealing parts are affixed to the bonnet, reduces downtime and cost of repair. All cartridges are serialized and interchangeable.
