Chromatic Industries developed a valve platform that can be applied to multiple valve applications through a patented cartridge assembly. Mechanical sealing is the cornerstone of Chromatic Industries design principles and is available in sizes from 2” - 20” inch diameters. These valves incorporate an innovative design that incorporate the positive features of ball, gate, plug, and high performance valves resulting in a mechanically sealing, tight shutoff valve with a simple operation that provides outstanding longevity and performance in a broad range of applications with virtually no maintenance. When trim change-out is needed, the patented cartridge design helps in meeting As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) goals by reducing maintenance times.

Models

    HCV

    The HCV valve (HEMI Cartridge Valve) is an innovative design that incorporates many positive features from other valve types. These features are combined into a single product platform that is UNIQUE to the Chromatic HCV product line and not found in any other valve on the market.

    The HCV is highly adaptive to a variety of process applications from low to high temperatures and on-off to control.

    Principles of Operation

    The HCVs mechanical seal is achieved by the increased offset (taper) of the HEMI wedging into the seat. At full closure a positive mechanical load is created between the HEMI and the seat. Unlike conventional ball valves, the HEMI core directs flow away from the seat ring, protecting the body and seat from excessive erosion. The cartridge design, in which all internal sealing parts are affixed to the bonnet, reduces downtime and cost of repair. All cartridges are serialized and interchangeable.

    DOV

    The DOV/SOV Valve is a quarter-turn valve with double offset HEMI (ball) in a top entry cartridge design. The cartridge assembly contains all trim components and is removed from the body in one piece. The DOV valve (Double Offset Valve) extends the technology from the HCV and delivers a rotary valve with dual mechanical wedge seals when used with soft seats for ZERO LEAKAGE. The standard DOV is a trunnion mounted design that provides a Double Isolation and Bleed without the use of seat springs or line pressure to ensure a bubble tight seal.

    The DOV has been designed to include “Double Isolation Bleed” (DIB) and “Double Block and Bleed” (DBB) functionality. The DOV maintains the UNIQUE top entry cartridge style for easier maintenance and fewer leak paths. The operation of a DOV is 1/4 turn that allows for more cost effective actuation and lower fugitive emissions.

    The SOV (Single Offset Valve) is a variation of the DOV used when a metal seat is needed for higher temperatures or steam service. The metal seat is installed on the upstream side providing more protection from the flow and maintains its rotary mechanical sealing feature. This proprietary seat delivers a reliable tight shutoff in a trunnion mounted design unique to the Chromatic SOV.

    A wide variety of options enable the DOV/SOV to include high temperature seals, corrosion resistant coatings, live loaded stem packing and alloy materials.

    Principles of Operation

    Using the same wedge seal technology developed with the HCV, Chromatic extended that technique to a fully round DOV HEMI with two opposing mechanical offsets. The DOV is designed with Dual Mechanical Wedge Seals allowing the valve to exert equal force on each seat with no assistance from line pressure or seat springs. The DOV will seal in either direction and even if one seat does not function properly the other seat will block pressure.     EBV

    The EBV valve (Extended Body Valve) is a simple and innovative extension of the HCV. The EBV was designed specifically for buried valve applications with above ground maintenance in mind. The UNIQUE cartridge design enables the entire trim of the valve to be assembled at one time allowing the body to remain in line during periods of maintenance.

    The body extension is a single section of pipe welded between the top of the valve body and top bonnet. The pipe section is rated and pressure tested to the same parameters as the valve body. The EBV can be supplied as a double block and bleed without the need for sub-surface bleed connections.

    The EBV is an excellent option for buried drain valves, buried manifolds, buried pump control valves and has been manufactured with extensions up to 10 feet.

    Principles of Operation

    With this innovative Extended Body Valve, verification that the valve is sealing from the surface, when buried, is possible as a result of the Double Block and Bleed design. Also, the ability to replace/repair internals in less than one day with the added feature of the extended body (as opposed to planning a significant project scheduling an extended outage at the cost of operational time/revenue, employing a contractor for significant excavation, and alleviating the need to remove and test large amounts of surrounding soil).

    FCV

    The Chromatic FCV Valve (Flow Control Valve) is an engineered rotary control valve that can be applied to a variety of flow and pressure control applications. The FCV can be applied in gas, liquid and slurry control valve duties. The FCV HEMI can be designed with a specific port opening based on the customers flow conditions. Port designs are readily available in 30-60-90 degree V-port and characterized trim for specific conditions. Options are available for anti-cavitation and severe service.

    Principles of Operation

    Chromatic considers the process conditions of each control valve application and applies an engineered solution to fit the conditions. The FCV valve can have several design enhancements including an engineered Hemi with standard 30-60-90 degree ports; arcuate cuts for high relief capacity; narrow to wide for wide range of flow and custom engineered solutions. The FCV can be engineered to control highly erosive fluids like drilling mud, slurries and catalyst feeds. The unique Hemi and Core can be combined to offer a solution for cavitation conditions and maintain the unique cartridge design for maintenance.
